CACWGAS
It takes an enormous amount of effort and organisation to arrange and host our meets, the main purpose of the meets is to allow our hounds and also us humans to gather and socialise and enjoy ourselves . The secondary purpose is to allow us to raise money for 2 charities each year. The charities are nominated by our group members and then chosen by our admin team. Monies are paid to our chosen charities after our main Sept meet each year. It is the groups wishes that the money is spent on the dogs themselves not general running costs so often we pay monies directly to veterinary practices to assist covering ever soaring bills
For the year October 1st 2024 until 30 September 2025 our group willl support the two charities below.
Evesham Greyhound & Lurcher Rescue
The Evesham Greyhound and Lurcher Rescue has been running for over 30 years it was set up in 1989 by Pip Singleton who started bringing Greyhounds and Lurchers into her home in an attempt to stop them being destroyed. The rescue still operates as a foster based rescue with foster homes up and down the country.
Lurcher Link
The aim of Lurcher Link is to HELP LURCHERS IN DISTRESS….. both through Lurcher Link rescue itself and by acting as a point of contact for rescues, dog wardens, vets, stray centres and the public. Many Lurchers are destroyed because stray pounds are full and their local rescues have no room. Yet in other parts of the country people are looking for Lurchers to rehome and because of this we act as a kind of “Dating Agency” for Lurchers, trying to find the right dog for the right family, from ANY rescue, to make space for other Lurchers to come into rescue and to save these dogs from being euthanised.
